Blood

About two decades ago, I decided that I should give blood.

It’s really quite impressive, my procrastination. And I’ve been thinking about it ever since. Once I even went with a friend, just to watch, and see if I thought I could do it. It didn’t work.

Meg posted something about giving blood recently, and I clicked the link.

And then I filled in the form.

And yesterday, they rang me.

I made an appointment for Tuesday, 1.50pm.

It’s time for me to get over the needle phobia, once and for all.

  1. I keep saying I’m going to do it too! But the blood bank is in the grounds of Nepean Hospital and the carpark is a private concern charging exhorbitant fees! Why should I pay to give blood? That’s my excuse [tee-hee]. Actually, I’m told donors get free parking!

  2. Good on you! I am needle phobic too but did donate a few times some years back. I’ll do most anything for a free box of sultanas. Haven’t donated in a long time, though – been too busy gestating and lactating. I guess I am probably eligible again now since hugo is getting most of his nutrition from solid food, but I can’t see how the trip to the blood bank with me and the two kids could be anything but a disaster.

  3. Call me sick, but I used to love getting blood taken from me and really wanted to donate blood. But I fell into the “can’t take your blood because you may have eaten mad cow” category.

I’m the universal donor as well!
