I can’t say I’ve ever watched heroes, but women are always, unfailingly linked to their emotions. I did however watch the Fantastic 4 where one of the characters tells Susan that her power of invisibility comes from the fact that she feels invisible and that no one pays attention to her. Unfortunately popular culture sucks and reinforces all those things that patriarchal society wants reinforced. I particularly love the way that women who are emotional are just that, but women who are rational are bitches.
