It amazes me that this is still even an issue. It seems like one of those fundamental rights women fought for generations ago, on par with owning property or voting.

I’m supporting this campaign but in a resentful kind of way. Equal to hetero de facto couples is good – but hetero de facto couples choose to be de factos. Some same sex couples do, too, of course, but some of us would like to be married, thankyouverymuch. So I think it’s a good and worthy campaign but it bites that it’s got ‘equal’ in its title, y’know?

Absolutely Red – this is only part of the story. This campaign is aiming for “almost equal”. Real equality should be the goal for all of us.
